Trader charged over LIBOR manipulation

A trader who worked for UBS and Citigroup has been charged in connection with an investigation by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) into the manipulation of LIBOR.

Tom Alexander William Hayes was one of three people arrested in December by officers from the SFO and City of London Police.

The 33-year-old resident of Surrey attended Bishopsgate police station today where he was charged with eight counts of conspiracy to defraud.

Having been released on bail, Mr Hayes is due to appear before City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court on June 20th.
