The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has appointed Promontory Financial Group and Mazars to examine Royal Bank of Scotland’s (RBS) treatment of business customers in financial difficulty and to consider allegations of poor practice.

The review will first take a look at the bank’s treatment of a sample of customers referred to its Global Restructuring Group and will then consider whether any poor practices identified are widespread and systematic.

The FCA expects to publish outcomes in Q3 2014.
