Former Barclays’ employees charged over LIBOR manipulation

Criminal proceedings by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) have commenced today against three former employees at Barclays.

Peter Johnson, Jonathan Mathew and Stylianos Contogoulas have been charged in connection with the manipulation of LIBOR – it is alleged they conspired to defraud between 1st June 2005 and 31st August 2007.

The SFO says its LIBOR investigation continues – it is currently working collaboratively with the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority and the United States Department of Justice on their respective ongoing investigations.
